Today’s 영어회화 팁 Part 5: What’s the difference between fun vs. funny?

Let’s first look at the definitions for both of the words:

fun (재미): enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure
Here are example sentences from Naver Dictionary:

We had a lot of fun at Sara’s party.
우리는 사라의 파티에서 아주 재미있게 보냈다.

Have fun!
재미있게 보내!

funny (우스운, 웃기는): causing laughter or amusement; humorous
More example sentences from Naver Dictionary:

a funny story
우스운 이야기

It’s not funny!  Someone could have been hurt.
웃을 일이 아니야!  누군가가 다칠 수도 있었다고.
