2nd ACL Reconstruction Surgery – Please take a look at the video for week 1 post-op recovery journal part 1:
1st Part of the Video
So in this video, I’m back in my regular clothes and will be discharged from the hospital soon.
I finally got my 2nd ACL reconstruction last week on Dec 8th and was hospitalized there for a week.
I gotta pay the surgery bill soon then fly back to Jeju Island but gotta come back to busan on Dec 23rd to get the stitches out
during this time, gotta recover for 6 weeks
and then i can start rehab therapy for the next few months
hopefully things will go smoothly through these crazy COVID-19 times
2nd Part of the 2nd ACL Reconstruction Surgery Video
so now we’re back in jeju island
been resting and recovering at my parents in-laws’ home
been doing self rehab throughout the day:
quad sets, ankle pumps, straight leg raises, hip abduction, 30 degree heel slides
every mon, wed and fri: gotta apply new patches and medicine on my knee
gotta take antibiotics twice a day for the next 10 days: once in the morning and once in the evening, 30 mins after each meal
also gotta do 20 mins of icing throughout the day
since this is my 2nd ACL reconstruction surgery, the doc and nurses emphasized that i have to be extra careful to prevent another tear from happening
and i gotta use crutches for the next 6 weeks
on 12/23, gotta go back to the hospital in busan to get the stitches out, blood test, x-ray & etc.
in terms of cost, this surgery with flights, accommodation and food probably cost me about $4K
i’ll give another update soon after 6 weeks
